Controversial Former Ceo Linked To Dark Money Group

Heather Bresch, Daughter of Senator Joe Manchin, Faces Scrutiny

Controversial Former CEO Linked to Dark-Money Group

Breaking News Lead:

Heather Bresch, the former CEO of pharmaceutical company Mylan and daughter of West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, has come under fire for her involvement in a dark-money group that has spent millions of dollars influencing elections.

Bresch, who resigned from Mylan in 2019 after facing criticism for the company's role in the opioid crisis, is now the president of Americans Together, a Super PAC that does not disclose its donors.

The group has spent over $10 million supporting Democratic candidates and causes in recent months, including $1.5 million on ads attacking Republican incumbents in the 2020 election.

Critics have accused Bresch of using her family ties to influence policy and benefit from corporate interests. Senator Manchin is a key swing vote in the evenly divided Senate, and his support for Democratic initiatives has been crucial to the Biden administration's agenda.

In an interview on Tuesday, Senator Manchin defended his daughter, saying that she is "a very capable, very intelligent person" and that her involvement in politics is "her own business."
